LoveShackFancy Melrose Place

We were sitting on the terrace of the Polo Bar at the Beverly Hills Hotel with Rebecca Cohen, the founder of LoveShackFancy, when she turned to us and said, “the store concept is Marie Antoinette goes to the Beverly Hills Hotel”, And with a glass of red wine in hand, the genesis of the Melrose Place store began.

Over several months, and meetings between Los Angeles, Paris, London and NYC, the store design unfolded. Every detail in the design has a story behind it; from the custom rail fixtures with climbing metal roses inspired by Sissinghurst’s legendary white garden, to the stair banisters custom-made in France, to the distressed finished walls which took six layers of paint and patina, and the custom tea cup candles created for the store by the bespoke London-based candle maker Rachel Vosper. Every view and corner was thought of and developed.  It was a labour of love for everyone who worked on it.
